Job Description:

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Commercial Lawyer to join their team on a locum basis, for 3-months initially with potential for extension.

The role offers predominantly remote working, with ad-hoc attendance in the West Midlands, and a rate in the region of £50 - £55 p/hour UMB, subject to experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience of handling contracts and procurement law within Local Government, and skills in handling high-value and complex agreements.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting, drafting and negotiating complex agreements, including PFI, funding agreements and joint ventures
  • Advising on procurement strategy and risk management
  • Supporting legal and operational priorities across major programmes and projects, providing legal support throughout the project lifecycle, including risk management, contract management and dispute resolution
  • Drafting and negotiating the full suite of construction contracts, e.g. NEC and JCTs, and advising on construction-related regulations
  • Reviewing and advising on clearance reports within the context of the Council’s governance and decision-making procedures

Rewards and Benefits:

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday
